What specific details stay in your mind? Why? How do these small details lead to larger ideas?
In the reading from Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place, some of the specific details that stay in my mind are when she is talking about the bombing in Utah and how whenever she goes to a certain area she remembers a flash of light from a long time ago. Also another detail is when she is talking about how a lot of women in her family has gotten cancer from the radiation from the blast. This eventually leads to her later talking about how she had a dream about some women that were protesting and how they went to the site of the bombings to try and stop them from continuing the bombings. They were eventually arrested, but it showed that the women were going to do anything it took to get them to stop. She later went on to do something similiar and was arrested and released right away.

ReplyDeleteThe same details were left in my mind after the reading. I felt that the little details Williams wrote about really added a lot to the big picture. Especially about the flood plain and how that was connected to the bird refuge. Overall, I enjoyed reading this.
